Nina Edwards - The Metropolitan Miss
Nina Edwards is a fashion illustrator based in New York City. She earned her BFA in illustration from FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) and her MFA from California State University, Fullerton. Her work has appeared in major publications, advertisements, and promotions in the U.S., Taiwan, U.K., and Japan. Nina is currently teaching Introduction to Fashion Illustration and Creative Careers as an adjunct professor at Pratt Institute.
Her work has appeared in numerous publications, book covers, books and magazine editorials, licensing products, and art galleries. Her client list includes many familiar names: Art Hearts Fashion Week, Style Fashion Week, New York Garment District Alliance, Scholastic, Bridal Guide Magazine, Girls’ Life, Seventeen, Sweet 16, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Cambridge Press, Oxford Press, Gap, Banana Republic, Minika Ko, EVA Air, Target, Madison Park Greetings, the Gift Wrap Company, Design Design, Inc., Bed Bath & Beyond, Taipei Economics and Culture Center in New York.
She has been active in the fashion field. During NY Fashion week, she was invited by the Style Fashion Week show producer to do live fashion portraits for the guests and models during shows. She is also regularly contributing fashion illustrations to the official New York Fashion Week magazine. In addition, she was invited by various NYC Apple Stores to demonstrate the use of sketching apps to create digital fashion illustrations. She has also exhibited her fashion art pieces in the Art Hearts Fashion Week Gallery for three consecutive years.
She is also active in graphic design, editorial illustration, greeting cards, and social expression fields for over 20 years. Her expertise includes digital and watercolor illustrations and the integration of opposing elements such as traditional and modern, Eastern and Western. She excels in combining art and technology with illustrations and designs as well.
She is originally from Taiwan, where - in 2019 - she wrote and illustrated a fashion and branding book, “From Fantasy To Reality: How To Make Your Creative Dreams Come True In Style.” She had eight book signing events across Taiwan in three weeks while she was there as well as in New York City.
In addition to creating her art, Nina is also an educator. She has delivered a number of illustration lessons, workshops, and career presentations in schools, universities, and professional organizations in the U.S. On an international level, she has developed and taught many art licensing, copyright, and greeting card design courses in Taiwan and China.
